Suite à un succès monstre durant le Festival International de Jazz de Montréal 2013 et 2014, la “Série Compositeurs Jazz” aura lieu pour une 3e fois! 

‘’Un brin de folie, une expérience, un nouveau pilier pour la communauté Jazz de Montréal!’

Pour une 3e année, 47 musiciens-compositeurs, 14 en provenance de, New York, Toronto, Chicago, Winnipeg, Richmond et Sherbrooke , du 28 Juin au 5 Juillet 2015.

Du 28 juin au 5 Juillet 2015, 47 musiciens-compositeurs provenant de villes différentes (Montréal, New York, Winnipeg, Chicago, Richmond, Toronto et Sherbrooke) seront rassemblés  pour la première fois sous une nouvelle forme de ‘’Jam Session’’. Chaque soir à 23h, en amont du site du festival, vous pourrez assister gratuitement à une vrai expérience “jazz”. Des groupes de 6 formés selon leurs similarités musicales par la trompettiste Rachel Therrien, n’auront qu’une seule et unique répétition de quatres heures pour se rencontrer et monter un spectacle de musique 100% originale. Une expérience démontrant la force du jazz par l’écoute et l’intéraction active entre les musiciens.

Suite à l’énorme succès durant les éditions 2013 et 2014 du Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, nous avons décidé de recréer l’expérience! Une salle remplie, une bonne ambiance, une musique extraordinaire, une énergie vibrante, un lieu unique ou vous reviendrez. Arrivez tôt pour avoir une meilleure place.

Afin de financer ce projet 100% auto-produit, nous invitons la communauté à contribuer financièrement par le biais du site internet (https://jazzcomposers.wordpress.com/donations). Les fonds récoltés permettront de payer le transport et l’hébergement pour les musiciens internationaux.

L’idée de cette nouvelle forme de ‘’Jam Session’’ est inspirée d’une expérience de Rachel Therrien au “Banff Center Jazz and Creative Music Workshop 2012”.

’’This is an interesting new original idea, a great experience and a new push for Montreal’s Jazz Community’’

Every night, bands are formed of young professionals composers based mostly in Montreal, New York, Toronto, Chicago, Richmond, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Quebec and Sherbrooke. Put together for their style similarities by the Montreal trumpet player Rachel Therrien, the invited musicians will have to put together their own original music for a ‘’Once in a life time’’ show with a one day rehearsal only. Most of those associations will be formed for the first time with musicians from different based cities. Every night the series will invite out-of-town musicians and put them together in an ensemble with young Montreal jazz players. This will hopefully starts new friendships and music associations. We are certain that over the years we will make history with unforgettable stories of the new rising jazz composers and performers within the Montreal jazz community.

The concept of putting new rising jazz stars from different cities together for the first time to perform everyone’s original compositions, within a one day rehearsal preparation.

Due to an enormous success and following with the first edition during Montreal’s International Jazz Festival 2013 and 2014, we are proud to announce that we will offer the series the hole year! It will take part once per month until next edition of the festival!
